This represents CGL’s largest project to date, with over 20,000m2 of secret fix PPC Aluminium Rainscreen, 3000m2 of our wallplank system used in the soffit areas and over a mile of our clip on coping between the six blocks on the project.
This project has provided an interesting challenge for CGL and Merson Group, and we are delighted to be a part of the regeneration of East London.
Essex County Cricket Club
Earlier this year Merson CGL completed the first phase of an exciting new residential development of Essex County Cricket Club’s ground. When complete, this new £85million development in the heart of Chelmsford will boast four apartment blocks totalling 360 apartments; a new cricket ground with a pavilion, media facilities and a conference centre; 17,000 sq. ft. of restaurants and retail space and a public piazza. Each apartment block will be complemented by a stunning view; either of the River Can, the new cricket ground or Central Park.
This was the first design, supply and installation job for CGL using the Secret Fix Traypanel system, which featured castellation fitting. This interlocking profile gives consistent alignment and integrity and the specially designed interlocking tongue allowed for the secret fixing requested by the architect.
The project is set to for completion in 2018.
Corsham Street is a high quality Student Accommodation building located just behind the iconic Old Street Roundabout in the fashionable Shoreditch area of East London. CGL Facades Perforated Aluminium Traypanel, post-coated in a vibrant white colour, was chosen for the upper levels while robust charcoal coloured brickwork at the base of the building gave the building a real contrasting look.
All the student rooms have private amenities, with a cafe, teaching space and great roof gardens offering fantastic views over the city. In addition to the manufacture, all installation of the Traypanel was performed by us drawing from the extensive installation experience of our parent company Merson Group.
CGL worked with HLM Architects to provide our Hook on Rainscreen system in aluminium, anodised in anolok 541 to produce a dynamic contrast to the building’s existing stonework. The façade also incorporated an exclusive fin design.
